| Abstract: | On the subject of 'ethics', The New Encyclopaedia Britannica explains that it consists of the fundamental issues of practical decision making, and that its major concerns, include the nature of ultimate value and the standards by which human actions can be judged right or wrong; and that the terms 'ethics' and 'morality' are closely related. This paper in the context of the theme of this seminar, namely, PROFESSIONAL ETHICAL PRACTICES A VITAL COMPONENT FOR A SUSTAINABLE INDUSTRIALISATION IN MALAYSIA, will attempt to put into focus an aspect of the myriad of problems posed by that cancerous disease, morally or ethically criminalised, called CORRUPTION, in the implementation of whatever code of professional ethics; and, in the same breath, in the realisation of a sustainable industrialisation in Malaysia, which is one of the objectives of our WAWASAN 2020. This problem will, arguably, be compounded, among other things, by this poser: will an ETHICAL man be immune to CORRUPTION? |
