| Abstract: | The presentation of Dr. Farid Harianto is quite a suggestive analysis indicating that technological developments are not caused by historical coincidence or not originated from any particular national character, but that any of the developing countries is able to improve their technology if they develop human resources and adopt suitable policies on technology development. At the same time, it is noteworthy that Dr. Harianto gave a positive appraisal to the following aspects. one: corporate in house technological renovation, two: improvements of the technology learning foundation at all national levels which enable in-house renovation take place, three: spread effects of advanced technology projects in developing countries, while he points out orginal technology tend to be independently developed by individual firms. II Dr. Harianto adds to refer to that AFTA can be the starting point for ASEAN to help restructure their industries, putting member countries to a new phase for technology development, in this connection, ASEAN members should face with the necessity to collaborate technology development policies among them for the utmost benefits. |
