Abstract: That the practice of Industrial Safety has a relationship to increased productivity is a new concept to Malaysian management. As spending on safety has, in most cases, been viewed as an expensive luxury industrial safety has been generally neglected. Attitudes are gradually changing as established industries start giving prominence to safety but the scene is one of confusion. Expertise in the field is scarce and the failure of new safety programmes is common. This empirical study seeks to describe the current situation, and to discuss the positive effects which the proper practice of safety can have on productivity.
