Marine ecosystems in Malaysia - 10 years after Stockholm

Abstract

Though the "UN conference on the Human environment" held in Stockholm 10 years ago cannot be regarded as the beginning of environmental awareness in Malaysia by any means, nevertheless, it is a milestone of sorts in that it focused attention on environmental problems in such a way that governments have come to accept the seriousness of environmental problems. The fact that the UN had sponsored such a conference had given an impetus to the development of the environmental awareness in Malaysia, and helped legistimise the growing concern for the deteriorating environment in Malaysia.
