Vision 2020: its linkages with the Sixth Malaysia Plan and the Second Outline Perspective Plan

Abstract

Vision 2020 which was presented by YAB Perdana Menteri at the inaugural meeting of the Malaysian Business Council on 28th February 1991, reflects the vision of a fully developed and industrialized Malaysia by the year 2020, in all dimensions: economically, politically, spiritually, psychologically and culturally. It is essentially a long-term vision containing broad policy directions encompassing various aspects. ng soci The Second Outline Perspective Plan (OPP2), 1991-2000 is basically a long-term plan which embodies the new policy called the National Development Policy (NDP) to replace the New Economic Policy (NEP). The main objective of NDP is to attain a balanced development in order to establish eventually a more united and just society as envisioned in the Vision 2020. OPP2 provides a framework for achieving certain socio-economic targets within a ten year time frame.
