Abstract: Critical thinking is one of the important elements in language learning activities such as Arabic debate. In Arabic debate, students are given opportunity to express their ideas and to defend them academically against their opponent. Therefore critical thinking is very important in Arabic debate. In Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia, Arabic Debate is considered as on of the most important language activities in enhancing students' language skills. Thus, this article will discuss Arabic debate in USIM and its role in providing a platform in implementing critical thinking in language learning. This article is based on library and field research. It is found that Arabic debate provide a suitable platform for students to practice critical thinking in language learning in Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia. It is also recommended that Arabic syllabus should contain activities such as Arabic debate to enhance students' skills in Arabic language.
