Abstract: | Over the last decade, whilst the GDP annual growth rate averaged 7.8 per cent, the manufacturing sector grew at an impressive rate of 12.5 per cent. By 1980, manufacturing's share in GDP had increased to 20.5 per cent. At the same time, manufacturing generated a great deal of employment opportunities, thus fulfilling a major goal in the Government's plan in tackling the unemployment problem. |
