Abstract: | This paper outlines the need for an alternative source of energy to supplement conventional fossil fuel. The utilization of solar energy in the form of electricity is considered. The generation of electricity can be achieved using thermal or optical radiation of the sun. A detailed consideration of the conversion of solar energy to electricity by silicon cells is given. The purpose is to build a small photovoltaic generator for regions where the population density is low, and therefore absence of large-scale energy consumers making conventional electric supply uneconomical. A prototype of such a generator is proposed. |
