Abstract: The historical evidence of the Riau-Lingga Kingdom indicated to us that the kingdom had greatness and victory in the past. One of the evidence that we can still see now is a mosque at Penyengat which was uniquely constructed. The mosque as one of the sacred buildings of Islam had a function as a ritual house for Islamic people and it was constructed in such a way that it had rooms where people could study and deep on knowledge about Islam for the purpose to spread it. It also had some kind of learning resource centre where Islamic books such as Koran, Fiqh, Tarich, etc. were kept. Among these books was a hand-written Koran that can still be found in the mosque.
