Abstract: This paper investigates the effect of using a grid-connected inverter to the distribution system by experimental study. A power conditioner is used in this study and its operation is evaluated according to the electric distribution legislation. Several tests are conducted to validate the compatibility of the power conditioner in grid-connected mode. The output current and voltage are analyzed to confirm the normal operating condition while considering the frequency and harmonics limitations. Based on the results, the power conditioner stops operating when any disturbances such as frequency and voltage fluctuations are detected in the connection, and the values of the harmonics in the output current along with the power factor are verified to be in range in accordance to the conditions set by Japan Electrical Safety and Environment Technology Laboratories (JET).
