| Abstract: | In this paper, we suggest a numerical mathematical model to simulate the sediment transport and bed changes under the combination of effects of tides, waves and winds. The model is based on the system of Reynolds equation coupled with sediment transport and bed load continuity equation. There are three verification cases of the model: verification of the tide-induced current, verification of the wave-induced current and verification of sediment transportation and the results from the model are good in accordance with the analytical solution. Then, the model is applied on the coastal zone of Can Gio mangrove forest and Cua Lap estuary (South East of Vietnam. The general trend of accretion and erosion in study area of Can Gio coast obtained from the model corresponds fairly well to the results from the satellite picture. At Cua Lap estuary, the simulation results of bottom change show that erosion happens in Southwest monsoon and vice versa deposition happens in Northeast monsoon. In general, the trend of sediment accretion and erosion in these areas are qualitatively in agreement with the satellite observation and practical measurement. |
