Abstract: | This presentation is on the state of Muslim owned and controlled institutions of higher education in Muslim areas in Mindanao, particularly in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, where the Muslims constitute 89 percent of the population. I am hesitant to use the term Islamic higher education in referring to these institutions although some are offering Islamic courses and subjects because the very essence of Islamic education which is the inculcation of both revealed and acquired knowledge in all fields of specialization not present. However, some of these institutions have the potential to become truly Islamic. |
