Abstract: | The publication of the MacBridge Report (1980)* marks a watershed in the history of international communication. It has not only created serious and far reaching reviews of national communication policies in many countries throughout the world, but has also aroused fierce debates on many aspects of communication, inlcuding even the role of UNESCO itself. The current debate on the new world information and communication order (NWICO) is but one of the many issues that the MacBridge Report has brought into the open. |
