Abstract: A two-dimensional model of foot segment is developed using Kane's Method Through an inverse dynamic method, torque at the ankle joint can be obtained. The torque force can be calculated using the data produced from the experiment of a school child carrying different loads of 1 0% and 20% of the body weight. The load is carried at the back of the body using a two-strapped backpack without the waist-belt. The subject is required to walk without carrying any load (0% of body weight), which is served as a reference to the other two modes. The data produced from the experiments are set as inputs in the model developed. The result shows that torque plays an important role in foot movement to gain stability during walking with or without load.
