The properties of concrete-containing waste glass and clay roof tile particiles

Abstract

The main aim of this research was to study the possibility of reusing glass roof tile waste particle (GCRTWP) to partially substitute for the natura aggregate in concrete composites. A series of tests were carried out to study of replacement GCRTW particles on the physical and mechanical properties and hardened concrete namely; workability, density, water absorption chara and the compressive strength. It was also to evaluate the effects of additioi particles contents replacement on the above properties. In this research, the specimens were prepared by using 100% of natural coarse aggregate, and t replaced by GCRTWP at 10%, 20%, 30%, 40% and 50% by weight 0 aggregate. The ratio of particle content between glass and clay roof tile was tests were carried out according to BS 1881 on water absorption and co strength test. The findings withdrawn from this research were: firstly, the d: concrete with GCRTWP decreased with the increase of GCRTWP contents. S it was found that the addition of GCRTWP did not improve the compressive .I the results show that the compressive strength lower than control sample. L water absorption of concrete decreased with the addition of GCRTWP. Over be concluded that the addition of GCRTWP did not improve the compressive of concrete; however, GCRTWP incorporation resulted in lighter concrete permeable to water.
