Abstract: | The National Library of Australia (NLA) accepted the role as a Regional Centre for the Preservation and Conservation (PAC) Core Programme of the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (lFLA) in 1989. The National Preservation Office is responsible for carrying out the Library's PAC responsibilities. The regional centre at the National Library of Australia is responsible for the South-East Asian and Pacific regions. It operates in close collaboration with the regional centre at the National Diet Library in Tokyo which is responsible for all other parts of Asia. The regional centre at the National Library of Australia communicates with and works with the International Centre by assisting with its projects, by publicising its goals and activities within the region, by representing the preservation needs of the region to the Centre, and by contributing to and distributing copies of International Preservation News. |
