Abstract: | E-Iearning is currently becoming the important trend in education. At present, it is very relevant within educational institution. Tertiary institutions have started to recognize the importance of e- learning in enhancing student learning. However, online learning does not only cater for distant education learners but it is integrated into classroom learning. The combination of traditional classroom setting and on-line learning elements within a single course or program is commonly referred to as "blended learning". With the interactive online technology that supports teaching strategies, the development and formation of a community of learners would ccntribute significantly in the learning process (Littlejohn & Pegler, 2007). This community of learners promotes a collaborative learning environment for the learners to interact by negotiating, debating, reviewing and reflecting upon existing knowledge. This will lead to a deeper understanding of the course content (Vonderwell 2002). This paper will discuss (i) the impact of online technology in education that has changed the role of tutor drastically and (ii) the involvement of tutor as an action researcher who participates directly in the research process. |
