Abstract: | This paper attempts to show that applications of contrastive analysis go beyond the second or foreign language teaching situations for which it was originally developed. It also discusses contrastive analysis in the light of new views on the goals of language teaching arising from recent developments in linguistics, sociolinguistics, and psycholinguistics as well as from recent concerns on the role of education in rational development. |
