This Paper may appear controversial: it is intended to provoke thoughts on the undesirable scenario of the existing with the object to encourage improvements for the future. It is irrelevant to achieve the development targets for the Year 2020, whilst the built environment of the future remains undesirable and detrimental. Traffic congestions, population explosions, environmental populations, socio-economic problems etc are the many ills of modern cities of the world. It is earnestly hoped that our built environment for national development should not be inherited with such ills where the remedial costs by the community at large are exorbitant. In the final analysis, prevention is assuredly a better solution than cure!en_US
