What is a profession? A profession can be defined as a form of activity undertaken by mankind for an economic gain. What is professional? The term professional may have a number of meanings. A professional golfer means a golfer who earns a living by playing golf. Whereas a sentence such as; "The golfer's game and his conduct in the sport is professional", suggests a connotation of dignity about the style, sportsmanship and behaviour of the golfer. Can we therefore equate a professional engineer, who earns a living through practising engineering, with a professional golfer?en_US
