Corporate sector, as a responsible corporate citizen, has an important role to play in environmental management in meeting the increasing demands of society's materials needs while minimising damage to the environment. The key criteria for success in managing the environment is an environmental policy supported by an environmental management system with management giving their top commitment and leadership.Another key element in managing wider environmental issues is to commit to sustainable development. Other important elements in moving towards transparency include listening to views of interested parties; being open to all areas of business and interact with them; promoting partnership with all relevant sectors of society for best environmental practices; setting demanding targets; relating environmental performance to variable pay and independent verification of environmental data.en_US
