This paper examines the globalisation process of the world economy and its impact in the Malaysian economy with particular emphasis on the changing trends in investment and technology flows between countries of the region and Malaysia. Since the changing investment flows will have an important impact on technology transfer or technology acquisition within domestic industries, issues relating to technology acquisition are also examined in this paper emphasising on the constraints faced by Malaysia in its efforts to upgrade domestic echnological capabilities in a changing international environment. Major policy options enabling Malaysia to become technologically competent in a rapidly changing global economic condition will be outlined in the final section.en_US
