Abstract: Awareness on conservation has increased has increased by leaps and bounds over the last decade. Numerous publications, semi- nars and conferences have focussed on con- servation. Societies and environmental groups have vociferously called for active have been passed and special government machinery set up. The public has even gone to the streets for the cause of conservation. But have all these these manifested actions borne fruit? Has conservation been truly effective or has it all been much ado over nothing?
