Abstract: The Sarawak government's dedication to the development of the people and the state has been unequivocal. And in its 25 years of Merdeka within Malaysia, it has laid strong and definitive steps to bring about change and a better quality of life to its people, a gargantuan task by all measures. Pursuant to the objectives of the New Economic Policy, the state has strived hard to formulate strategies and action plans towards the eradication to poverty among all its people and to restructure society to provide for a more equitable distribution of access and equity to the wealth of the state and the country. It has complemented the development efforts of the federal government Where federal efforts have focussed on the improvement of infra structural facilities, Sarawak has its own prioritised development plans concentrating more on land development, industrial development, gas, petroleum and hydro-power, roads and bridges, water supply, housing, drainage and irrigation.
