dc.description.abstractThe post-war years witnessed considerable ideological changes and renewed thinking on socio-economic and political issues the world over. In particular, the resurgence influenced thinking in the then Malaya was export plantation sector was dominated by foreign ownership, and so origin. Land ownership and the socio-economic status of the producer was brought to the foreground. The disproportionately large workforce the status of wage contributing directly to production, yet designated earners, whereas the beneficiaries were a minute number of managers and resource owners was brought to question. The socio-economic changes which were needed in line with post-war thinking was to realign the organization of crop production in order to bring about a more equitable distribution of resources, and income. Various steps were taken and various agencies were established in order to achieve this objective.en_US
