Sarawak is one of the few states in the world that enjoys freedom from the major diseases of animals of economic importance. The absence of the more important diseases of animals is a major factor in creating the climate for investment. Like Peninsular Malaysia, the poultry and swine sectors has progressed well into commercial entreprises while the ruminant sector still lags behind. The reasons are many and well known to livestock entrepreneurs.en_US
