Towards attaining a competitive and resilient economy by the year 2020: the external dimension

Abstract

One of the challenges that Malaysia has to face in its effort to become a fully developed country by the year 2020 is the creation of a competitive, dynamic, robust and resilient economy. Although this challenge is entered last in the list of nine challenges outlined in the Vision 2020, it is nevertheless one of the most crucial because the achievement of many of the other challenges rest on the existence of a viable economic base for the country.
