Since the last several years, the Malaysian economy has been adversely affected by adverse developments in the world economy as well as growing constraints in the domestic economy. Recent developments, especially with respect to the collapse in prices of primary exports across the board, have given rise to even greater difficulties. In the light of this, comparatively, the tourism sector is beginning to emerge as an important growth industry, generating employment, providing substantial foreign exchange and exerting multiplier effects on other sectors of the economy.en_US
