| Abstract: | Studies on forest resources of the tropics Studies on tropical forest resources at regional or global levels have been carried out essentially by FAO for more than 30 years. These have been published periodically. Important among these are the World Forest Inventories published for the years 1953, 1958 and 1963. In later years the following important publications have appeared: "World Forest Resources Review" by R. Person (1974); "The Forest Resources in Asia and the Far East, FAO (1976)"; "Assessment of the World Tropical Forests" by A. Sommer (1976); "Present and Future Forestry and Plan- tation Areas in the Tropics" by J.P. Lanly and J. Clements (1979). |
