Abstract: | Yunnan is both a crucial part of the Pan-Pearl River Delta (Pan-PRD) Region and a principal area in the Greater Mekong Subregion. If Pan-PRD Region is likened to a soaring huge dragon, Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao are the “head” and Yunnan is the “tail”. Through the function of the "tail", the economies of Pan-PRD Region and Southeast Asia can be closely linked, establishing a big platform connecting Southeast Asia's economy, trade, science, technology and culture. Yunnan can hence play a special role in the international cooperation between the two regions. This paper is divided into three parts: the roles and functions of Yunnan in the cooperation between Pan-PRD and ASEAN, Yunnan opening internally in the cooperation between Pan-PRD and ASEAN, and Yunnan opening externally in the cooperation between Pan-PRD and ASEAN. |
