Business and industry outlook

Abstract

This paper looks at the business and industry performance in 1987 and perception of the prospective outlook for 1988. The paper is organized into three sections. The introductory section reviews the quarterly developments during the first three quarters of 1987 and presents the expectations for the final quarter of 1987 based on the findings of MIER's third quarter Business Conditions Survey conducted in September. The detailed results of the survey are elaborated in the subsequent section. The third section focuses on the business and industry outlook for 1988 issuing from MIER's forecasts.
