The rapid urbanisation of Malaysia, if improperly planned may lead to deterioration in the urban environment and living condition. Much of the malaise is due to the direct result of removal of protective green strips with slow or little replacement. The paper discusses the potential role of trees and forestry in regreening the cities and the ultimate amelioration of urban living conditions, and their implications to forestry education and research.en_US
