Bako National Park is one of the most widely used national parks in Sarawak in view of its proximity to Kuching, the State Capital. It is of great scientific interest because as many as seven different forest types and several rare and unusual plants and animals are found within the 26 square km of the Park. Some of its scientific values are highlighted and its current use briefly surveyed. With improved accessibility to the Park and the foreseeable increase use of the Park, the impact of greater use is discussed and suggestions are proposed so that this inherent uniqueness of the Park is maintained as far as possible.en_US
