dc.description.abstract | The maps, plans and charts in the P.R.O. described in this catalogue amount to rather more than three hundred and fifty. They are here arranged in two groups: 1. Those maps which appear in the printed list made in 1910 of maps then in the Library of the Colonial Office. Such maps up to 1885 were transferred to the Public Record Office before the last World War. For the present catalogue, this list has simply been reproduced. It shows some fifty maps, plans and charts relating to Southeast Asia of earlier date than 1886. They are arranged under the three headings of Eastern, Labuan and Borneo; and Straits Settlements and Malay Peninsula. Each item bears a number and all are grouped, for purposes of reference on the P.R.O., under the class number C.0.700. The descriptive heading of each section must also be given. Thus the P.R.O. reference to the first item in the present catalogue is "C.0. 700 Eastern 1". | en_US |
