The oral history program of the university of the Philippines archives

Abstract

Its beginnings. The need to establish an Archives for the University of the Philippines which shall preserve the written, printed, audio- visual, and other recorded materials of historical and research Value came to fore in 1958 when the celebration of the University' s golden jubilee necessitated the writing of the University's first half century of existence. The Committee which undertook the project was able to produce and publish only the first fifteen years of its history. The unavailability of records is due to the destruction by fire of the University buildings during the battle of Manila in 1945.
