dc.description.abstract | Developing countries in Southeast Asia are in the process of transitioning from a production economy to a knowledge-based economy (k-economy). Various new knowledge and information communications technologies (ICT) mega-projects are being designed and executed at massive investments but returns are being questioned and criticized. The structures and processes by which these ICTs are developed and implemented are complex economic-social-political decisions. Being critical requires analyses based on sophisticated theoretical frameworks. An in-depth understanding is illustrated and assessed using interpretive case studies concerned with formulating and implementing a k-economy ICT blueprint, a contact centre industry blueprint and a knowledge portal. Based on these critical analyses, prescriptions for success of ICT in development are suggested. | en_US |
