dc.description.abstract | The recent trend of accessing development and evolution of modernity is based on the complex process of a nation with the impact of accelerated globalisation. In relation to this, the development of IT as well as ICT has reached all parts of the world including rural areas of Malaysia. Knowledge and information mining through the internet is accessible to all as long as ample infrastructure and skills are provided for. Although today IT facilities are made available, current needs of recent infrastructures must meet the demand of e-communities. With consideration of engaging Malaysian modernity within 50 years and beyond, this paper discusses a preliminary finding of a research project on 3 areas in Pahang. Focus will be on e-community centre of Sg. Lembing and their users. The description provides a qualitative data to depict current needs of e -community centres in terms of infrastructures based on the perception of members of the e-community centres. The final conclusion made is followed by appropriate suggestions, in fulfilling the need of e-literacy among rural e-community centres in Pahang. It is hoped that based on perceptions e-community members themselves, this paper shares the findings that aims towards the research's ultimate aim, namely, to enhance IT literacy in rural areas in Malaysia. The discussion is also hoped to share a depiction on Malaysia's anticipation of its future in the twenty first century. | en_US |
