In fact, every religion with its own sacred book teaches its followers to make peace and harmony. No religion in the world teaches its believers to have revenge or to violate other beli evers' rights. Islam, for example, teaches its believers that it is a blessing for the whole human beings in the world (Rahmatan Ii! 'alamin). Likewise, Christianity teaches the notion of "love". It does not mean that believers of a certain religion only love those who have the same faith, but they should love the whole human beings, whatever their religions are. If the essence of these teachings is socialized, it will create a strong unity which becomes the foundation to build our nation and humanity. This means that religion has an important role that cannot be separated from the social life. In a country with a pluralistic society like Indonesia, the tolerance among religious communities is one of the main factors needed to implement the "nation building" process and the integration process. The principle "agree in disagreement" in imerreligious relationship has become a code of ethics in. Keeping good relations and coilaboration among religious communities. The manifestation of this principle can be seen through a sense of openness in self- control, mutual respect, and mutual trust among religious community and a sense of openness in building social life.en_US
