Klinik Bantuan Guaman (Legal Aid Clinic) of Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) was formally established in 2011 after extensive deliberation on its proposed structure, objectives, mode of operation as well as issues relating to the Legal Profession Act 1976. The establishment of a legal aid clinic fully run by a university faculty in its present structure, mission and direction, are evidence of a clear commitment from the Faculty in providing access to justice to the community in need in Malaysia. The purpose of this paper is to discuss the challenges and the issues involved leading to the establishment of the Legal Advice Clinic, its principal objectives, strategic partnerships, milestones, and ongoing activities. The paper will also address the issue of the future direction of the Clinic.en_US
