dc.description.abstract | The collaborative mechanism between the public and private sector in Malaysia forms the basis of this study. The application of this collaborative mechanism and the challenges it poses will be studied in the Malaysian context to determine the effectiveness towards better policy making and a more responsive Government through the improvement of public service delivery. The study will assess how Government seeks to further enhance the level of consultation with the private sector on new policy initiatives and legislation that impact their business activities. In this regard, the Government's commitment and willingness to publish or/and make available to the private sector proposed policy initiatives and draft legislation for comments and inputs will be closely examined by the researcher. As the Government continues to leverage on the expertise, knowledge and experience of the private sector in further upgrading its service delivery initiatives, the study also aims to address the potential gains and pitfalls of collaboration with the private sector. The growing influence of the private sector in Malaysia will also allow the researcher to study the motivation that drives the private sector to provide feedback on impediments to service delivery. Best practices adapted from the private sector to benchmark the existing levels of public service delivery to improve Malaysia's global competiveness in doing business and cater for more efficient and effective services will also need to be carefully studied to ensure that all segments of the society besides the private sector mutually benefit from the success of economic growth and development. | en_US |
