Description: Pakistan, a nation created as the first home for the British-India Muslims almost seven decades ago today represents one of the world's most troubling states on the brink of an economic catastrophe. Record levels of unemployment, unprecedented inflation rates, obsolete and weak overland logistics and transport infrastructure, insufficient technical education facilities, ever increasing fiscal deficit, extreme low exports and looming energy crises; are just a few of the vices which have crippled the country at a macro level. Despite being rich in natural resources, ideal geographical situation and self sufficient in food production, Pakistan' economic infrastructure is falling apart day by day. CPEC undoubtedly creates numerous opportunities for Pakistan's financial and economic sector. However, to reap maximum benefits from unprecedented CPEC investment, the country requires revisiting and rearranging the policies in overland logistics sector to improve the exports and to guide the entire region into a new era of cooperation and economic development. Logistics certainly assumes basic job in each nation's financial advancement. In absence of well built advance infrastructure and better government policies, this sector cannot adequately secure by the reciprocal arrangements made under CPEC. A scrutiny of the Chinese policies to invest in Pakistan and the prevalent strong bilateral regime for investment promotion and protection suggest that China-Pakistan investment relations reflect a move towards much deeper economic integration. Furthermore, CPEC initiative is largely conducive to the economic needs of participating states; however, there are number of issues need to be addressed in order to earn the broader socio-legal cogency. For this purpose, the market access barriers, deficiencies in legal system, operational legal risks in way of overland logistics development are made significant part of this research. Moreover, this research concludes and recommends the domestic and regional set of rules and regulations to the government of Pakistan in order to achieve high standards of regional trade and associated monetary benefits from CPEC through harmonized principles of overland logistics investment among China and Pakistan. This research involves deep analysis of CPEC logistics plans, Pakistan-China bilateral regime, Pakistan foreign investment and trade policies and current trade dispute settlement mechanism by Pakistan. The author adopts qualitative approach to explore and interpret the data and determine the best policies. Socio legal method of research is applied for the purpose of finding facts and conclusion. Moreover, this research highlights possible future legal disputes which may come up with present logistics model and commitments. However, this study concludes that CPEC and related overland logistics investment is inevitable for fast socio economic progress of Pakistan and well-being of the people in the region.,Ph.D.
