Description: Students of English at Tafilah Technical University (TTU) in Jordan have been learning listening and speaking skills using the traditional approach since the English programme was introduced. However, there had been no clear indication of a marked improvement in the students' listening and speaking skills. Therefore, the main purpose of this study was to investigate the learning of listening and speaking skills by using Blended Learning of Face-to-Face learning and online learning among tertiary students majoring English Language at TTU. A mixed method approach was employed in this study whereby survey questionnaires, interview protocols, observations and documents related to the course and Blended Learning (BL) activities were utilized for the data analysis. A survey was carried out to investigate the challenges encountered by 162 tertiary students when learning English listening and speaking skills. A total of 24 students taking English Listening and Speaking course at the English Department, were introduced and exposed to a BL approach for one semester via a Moodle platform as an intervention. The intervention was observed at different stages to investigate how the BL approach contributes to the learning of listening and speaking skills. In addition, the students were asked to answer a self-report questionnaire in order to investigate their attitudes towards using BL. To support the data, six of those students were interviewed. The findings of the study show that the learning of listening and speaking skills improved by using BL. BL is beneficial and effective for English major students to develop these skills, where students could understand spoken English better and use it without feeling anxious. The findings also show students' positive attitudes towards learning listening and speaking skills using BL that facilitates the learning process. The implications of this study suggest that an effective BL approach needs to be integrated in the English program at higher learning institutions in Jordan. This implementation will be an important move towards creating an innovative teaching and learning approach to further improve listening and speaking skills among Jordanian students.,Ph.D.
