Description:	The employability of Malaysian graduates is the nations concern as their English language competency do not meet employers requirement. This study aims to examine the undergraduates attitudes, difficulties and challenges in learning English language from the aspects of second language learning attitudes and academic perceptions. This study also intends to investigate the differences between students of different language achievement. This is a survey study using 5-point Likert scale questionnaire as the instrument to collect data. The data collected was analysed using SPSS Statistics version 19.0. The respondents were 319 undergraduates from various faculties in Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. Descriptive statistics such as frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation were used to describe the respondents profile and their second language learning attitudes and academic perceptions. Independent sample T-test was used to analyze the differences between good students and average students with respect to second language learning attitudes and academic perceptions. MANOVA was used to analyze the differences between good students and average students across (i) attitudinal factors of attitude, anxiety, attention and self-confidence and (ii) academic factors of language skills and language rules. The descriptive analysis showed that students have positive attitude towards second language learning and motivated to learn the language but concerns such as anxiety and difficulties in certain language skills and rules were also indicated. The result of T-test analysis indicates a significant difference between good students and average students with respect to both second language learning attitudes and academic perceptions. The result of MANOVA analysis indicates a significant difference between good students and average students on both the attitudinal and academic factors.
