Mesin hanya digunakan sebagai alat bantu bagi seorang penterjemah profesional,Arabic-Malay translation is shaped by a new trend of translation stemming from current development of technology that has brought major changes to the world of translation. Machine translation technology definitely works to facilitate translation. To translate an Arabic phrase requires deep knowledge of Arabic language studies because of the multiplicity of phrases in the language which makes it special. Machine that is automated depends on its software and has its word bank, while human uses his skills when translating. Both have the ability to translate a text. But the important is which translation is better. Subsequently the question is whether machine is capable of translating a text as human and whether it will replace the position of a professional translator in the future. Thus, the aim of this study is to analyse the translation results between human and machine translations in translating Arabic phrases. The translated text is entitled al-'Ankabut and it is an Arabic novel of a famous Egyptian writer, Mustafa Mahmud. Data are analyzed using descriptive analysis method involving the two categories of the Google translation engine representing machine translation and human translation, which is Nahmar Jamil. Simple random sampling method is used to obtain samples from idafah, adjective, badal, 'atf, tawkid and idiomatic phrase (ta'bir istilahi) present in the novel. The results show that human translation has better quality and value rather than machine translation. Machine is only used as a tool for a professional translator.,PhD |
