Description: Information on the prepositions is crucial in determining the meaning of an Arabic sentence. The multiple meanings of the preposition raise some difficulty in identifying the accurate meaning of the sentence. The issue of interchangeable of prepositions is one of the factors in the differences among the scholars on deciding the most accurate meanings of the Qur'anic verses. Also, it plays its part in the accuracy aspect of the translated meanings of prepositions present in the Qur'an and demands certain strategies to deal with the issue. This study intends to analyse and compare between the agreed findings related to the classification of interchangeable of prepositions in al-Irtishāf and al-Mughnī, and its translation in the Malay translated Qur'an, as well as finding the strategy of translating interchangeable prepositions. This qualitative study adopts library data based on descriptive approach as well as comparative analysis. This study relies on three translations al-Qur'an Mashaf Malaysia dan Terjemahannya, Tafsir Pimpinan al-Rahman and Tafsir Nur al-Ihsān in analytically comparing the tanāwub hurūf al-Jarr with the Malay translation. There are similarities in both works in suggesting classifications of interchangeable of prepositions, related to al-Qur'an. The effect of interchangeable of prepositions is seen in 42 of the translations from 78 samples. It is found that there are three classifications of strategy to be applied in the translation of interchangeable prepositions in the Qur'an. This study suggests that further deep study regarding the entire meanings of the prepositions in the Malay translated Qur'an should be undertaken because there are differences between the views of the Arabic scholars and the translation from the aspect of meaning. To sum up, this study contributes in the assist of Arabic-Malay translation procedure and in the attempt of realising dictionary project emphasising the accurate equivalence of the prepositions in Arabic and Malay.,Ph.D
