Description:	This study aims to assess Malaysia’s responses to climate change under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). Its objectives are to identify platforms of climate change and their interactions at a global level; assess Malaysian efforts on climate change and the extent to which they fulfil its national commitments to the UNFCCC; and suggest improvements on these efforts. The methods employed are literature review, quantitative and qualitative content analysis. Platforms of climate change from the late-1600s until the establishment of the UNFCCC in 1992 were reviewed. Science, media and policy are three important climate change platforms. Interfacing among these three platforms is critical to attract greater attention to the climate change discourse. To ensure an effective interfacing among them, it is suggested non-governmental organisations to play a role. The commitments of the Non-Annex I Party to the UNFCCC were reviewed to enable assessment of Malaysia’s fulfilment of commitments to this body. Malaysia Development Plans from 1996 until 2015 and the National Policy on Climate Change (NPCC) were assessed. Malaysia’s responses to climate change include national mitigation and adaptation plans; promotion of cleaner technologies; research and development as well as education, training and awareness. It was found that Malaysia, as a Non-Annex I Party, is meeting all its national commitments to the UNFCCC. Notwithstanding this, there is room for improvement in aspects of access and exchange of information as well as reporting.
