Description: The main objectives of the study are to investigate (a) the relationship between human-oriented leadership style (supportive style and inspirational style) and work outcomes (organisational commitment, job satisfaction, and job motivation); and (b) the mediating effect of organisational commitment in the relationship between human-oriented leadership style (supportive style and inspirational style) and work outcomes (job satisfaction and job motivation). Specifically, the study hypothesised that (a) there is a positive relationship between human-oriented leadership style (supportive style and inspirational style) and work outcomes (organisational commitment, job satisfaction, and job motivation); (b) organisational commitment mediates the relationship between human-oriented leadership style (supportive style and inspirational style) and job satisfaction; and (c) organisational commitment mediates the relationship between human-oriented leadership style (supportive style and inspirational style) and job motivation. In order to test the hypotheses, the study employed the Partial Least Square – Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM) statistical technique to analyse the survey data obtained from 252 employees of Suruhanjaya Pilihan Raya Malaysia. The results of the study showed that (a) human-oriented leadership style (supportive style and inspirational style) are positively related to organisational commitment; (b) supportive style is positively related to job satisfaction; (c) human-oriented leadership style (supportive style and inspirational style) are positively related to job motivation; (d) organisational commitment fully mediates the relationship between supportive style and job satisfaction; (e) organisational commitment partially mediates the relationship between inspirational style and job satisfaction; (f) organisational commitment partially mediates the relationship between supportive style and job motivation; and (g) organisational commitment partially mediates the relationship between inspirational style and job motivation. Theoretically, the study contributes to knowledge by providing evidence for the importance of organisational commitment role as a mechanism in explaining the relationship between human-oriented leadership style and work outcomes in terms of job satisfaction and job motivation. Practically, the study emphasis to leaders that their practice of human-oriented leadership style is essential in contributing to employees’ organisational commitment in the context of both job satisfaction and job motivation. Thus, these positive behaviours may lead to greater organisational competitiveness and productivity in an era of globalisation and knowledge-based economy,Sarjana Pengurusan Organisasi dan Sumber Manusia
