Description: In 1990s, an idea to build a bridge connecting Indonesian island of Sumatera and Malaysia Peninsula was mooted. This idea then disappeared because of the Asian crisis in 1998 and reappeared in 2006 when Malaysia submitted a proposal to Indonesia for the construction of the Malacca Strait Bridge. The bridge will connect Masjid Tanah in Malacca (Malaysia) to Dumai City in Riau (Indonesia) through Rupat Island in Bengkalis (Indonesia) with the total length of 127.93 km. If the Malacca Strait Bridge is materialized, the Bridge will be the longest strait crossing in the world. The Malacca Strait Bridge construction plan is interesting to be studied especially from the view of Public-Private Partnership Law aspect. Both Indonesia and Malaysia have already had legal and institutional frameworks to provide infrastructure for their respective economic development purposes. However, the two countries do not have regulations as the basis for cross-border infrastructure provision. The Malacca Strait Bridge construction surely requires clear legal and institutional frameworks in order to be realized. This study tries to look at appropriate legal and institutional frameworks that are appropriate for the construction and operational of the bridge. Other countries experiences in realizing cross-border infrastructures such as the Channel Tunnel and the Oresund Fixed Link become essential study materials to make better and clear legal and institutional frameworks.,Sarjana Undang-undang
