Description: | Our current 21st century workplace requires workers to master the skills that are essential in a knowledge-based society as well as the new skills necessary to move beyond the information age into the conceptual age. Therefore, in order to succeed in this present economic scenario, students need to be equipped with digital age proficiencies. Analysis of current literature on this issue revealed that elements of the 21st century learning outcomes are the skills, knowledge and expertise students should master to succeed in work and later in life within the compound of the 21st century environment. Education systems of every nation need to transform their objectives, curriculum, pedagogies, and as well as assessments to help the younger generation achieve the outcomes required for a prosperous, attractive lifestyle based on effective contributions in work and citizenship. Essentially, the main purposes of this study are to determine the inventive thinking skills among primary school students in Malaysia and Brunei and to compare the inventive thinking skills among the students with regards to gender and school location. The dimension of inventive thinking skills comprised of flexibility, self direction, curiosity, creativity, risk taking and higher order thinking. This study, which employed cross sectional survey method, involved 1037 Primary school students from both countries. The results of the findings revealed that students in Brunei had low mean scored on domains such as adaptability and managing complexity, self direction, risk taking and higher order thinking and sound reasoning than students in Malaysia. However, the finding also confirmed that their counterparts in Malaysia scored low mean on curiosity than students in Brunei. The results also affirmed that there were no statistically significant differences on student’s inventive thinking skills from both countries in term of gender and school location.,Persekitaran kerja pada abad ke-21 memerlukan pekerja menguasai kemahirankemahiran yang penting dalam masyarakat berasaskan pengetahuan serta kemahiran baru yang diperlukan untuk bergerak melampaui era teknologi maklumat menuju era konseptual. Oleh itu, untuk berjaya dalam senario ekonomi masa kini, pelajar harus dilengkapi dengan kemahiran literasi era digital. Analisis kepustakaan terkini berhubung isu tersebut mendedahkan bahawa elemen-elemen hasil pembelajaran abad ke-21 mestilah menghasilkan pelajar yang mempunyai pengetahuan serta kemahiran yang harus dikuasai untuk berjaya dalam dunia pekerjaan dan kehidupan seharian dalam persekitaran pada abad ke-21. Justeru itu, sistem pendidikan setiap negara perlu mengubah hala tujuan mereka, kurikulum pendidkan, kaedah pengajaran dan pembelajaran serta penilaian untuk membantu generasi muda mencapai matlamat yang telah ditetapkan. Pada dasarnya, tujuan utama kajian ini adalah untuk meninjau kemahiran berfikir secara inventif dalam kalangan pelajar sekolah rendah di Malaysia dan Brunei serta membandingkan kemampuan berfikir secara inventif dalam kalangan murid berdasarkan jantina dan lokasi sekolah. Dimensi kemahiran berfikir secara inventif terdiri dari fleksibiliti, regulasi kendiri, sifat ingin tahu, kreativiti, sanggup mengambil risiko dan pemikiran aras tinggi. Kajian ini menggunakan kaedah tinjauan keratan lintang, melibatkan 1037 pelajar sekolah rendah dari kedua-dua negara. Dapatan menunjukkan bahawa murid di Brunei memperoleh nilai skor min yang rendah bagi domain fleksibiliti, regulasi kendiri, sanggup mengambil risiko dan pemikiran tahap tinggi berbanding rakan mereka di Malaysia. Namun begitu, dapatan kajian menunjukkan bahawa murid di Malaysia memperoleh skor min yang rendah bagi komponen sifat ingin tahu dibandingkan dengan murid di Brunei. Keputusan ini juga menegaskan bahawa tidak ada perbezaan yang signifikan secara statistik pada kemahiran berfikir secara inventif murid daripada kedua-dua negara berdasarkan jantina dan lokasi sekolah.,Master/Sarjana |
