Abstract: Herbicide-resistant Goosegrass biotype has become a major problem in agricultural areas in Malaysia. This study was conducted to detect herbicide resistance in Goosegrass from selected cultivation areas in Perak, Pahang, Selangor, Kedah, Terengganu, Johor, Kelantan, Sarawak and Sabah. Goosegrass seeds were collected randomly from 50 cultivation areas and the seedlings were sprayed with herbicides including Paraquat, Fluazifop, Glyphosate or/and Glufosinate at twice the recommended rates, respectively, in a glasshouse. The results indicated that most of the populations have evolved at least one type of herbicide. These findings are a timely reminder and early warning to growers that integrated management of goosegrass is very important in the field of cultivation.
